The Hobart College rowing team's second varsity eight shared the Liberty League Boat of the Week award today. The Statesmen finished fourth overall, and first among second varsity eights, at the Head of the Genesee on Saturday.
The Statesmen produced a time of 16:15.36 in the 5,000-meter head race, the seventh fastest time of the morning (faster than all of the other 2V8 entries). In the afternoon, Hobart went down the 1,500-meter sprint course in 4:34.57, besting all but three of the entries (all 1V8s).
The afternoon time is tripled and added to the morning time to determine an overall time. Hobart's time of 29:59.07 was more than a minute faster than the second second varsity eight (Bucknell, 31:06.94) and trailed only the first varsity eights from Bucknell, Rochester and Hobart.
The Statesmen second varsity eight was powered by

Hobart will be back in action on Oct. 22-23, when the Statesmen compete in the prestigious Head of the Charles Regatta.
