Hobart squash competes in Liberty League Championship this weekend

The Hobart College squash team will travel to Canton, N.Y., to compete in the 2011 Liberty League Championship this weekend.

The Statesmen will begin the tournament taking on the championship host, No. 12 St. Lawrence, at noon on Saturday, Nov. 19. Hobart will play its second match of the day against Bard at 2 p.m. On Sunday, the Statesmen will take on Vassar at 11 a.m., followed by a match against No. 4 Rochester at 1 p.m.

Hobart started the season with an 8-1 win over Colgate. Last weekend, the Statesmen competed in the 2011 Navy Round Robin and came away with a 2-2 record, registering wins over Johns Hopkins and Drexel.

Senior Corey Kabot has led the Statesmen playing all five matches at the top spot this year. He has posted a 2-3 record. Junior Daniel Pelaez has recorded a team-best 3-2 mark at No. 2. Junior Edgardo Gonzalez, senior Kevin Kent, sophomore William Boyle, senior Grant Bercari and first-year Cesar Peralta have each logged two victories at Nos. 4-8, respectively.
