CANTON, N.Y.—The Hobart College Squash team split two matches on the second day of the Liberty League Championship Tournament. The Statesmen defeated Vassar 8-1 to start the day and then fell 9-0 to the No. 4 University of Rochester.
Overall, Hobart finished 2-2 in the conference tournament. Against the Brewers, junior
Daniel Pelaez led the Statesmen with an 11-0, 11-5, 11-4 victory at No. 2. First-year McGee O'Neill defeated Will English at No. 3, 11-4, 11-5, 11-3. Junior
Edgardo Gonzalez topped Vassar's Andrew Linsday 11-1, 11-6, 11-9 at No. 4.
At No. 5, senior
Kevin Kent defeated his Brewer opponent 11-2, 11-3, 11-3. Sophomore
William Boyle cruised to an 11-3, 11-3, 11-3 triumph at No. 6, and junior
Julian Snider posted an 11-3, 11-7, 11-3 win at No. 7. Senior
Grant Bercari defeated Shalil Bajpai 11-1, 11-7, 11-3 at No. 8. The Statesmen won by default at No. 9.
Hobar (5-4) will be back in action Dec. 3-4, when the Statesmen compete in the Wesleyan Round Robin.
