Duffy, Mahoney are double winners against Ithaca

GENEVA, N.Y.—William Smith College sophomores Lia Duffy and Mimi Mahoney posted two victories apiece, but visiting Ithaca College swam past the Herons 197-103 in Bristol Pool tonight. The Bombers improved to 5-0, while William Smith slips to 1-1.

For the second time in as many meets, Duffy picked up a pair of individual wins, capturing the 50-yard freestyle in 26.0 and the 100 free in 56.56. Mahoney captured the 50 backstroke in 30.56 and led a 1-2 Heron finish in the 50 butterfly, touching in at 29.27. Samantha Burnett was second in the event, 0.08 behind. Mahoney also finished second in the 100 backstroke in 1:06.54.

William Smith first-year Christine Rhoads earned her third win of the young season, posting a 2.15-second victory in the 200 free (2:04.68).

Ithaca won 11 of the meet's 16 events.

The Herons will be back in the pool at 1 p.m. on Saturday, Nov. 12 when they host Alfred in a dual meet.
