NEW YORK, N.Y.—The William Smith tennis team picked up a 7-2 win over New York University in a match played this morning. The Herons improve to 7-2, and NYU is now 0-6 this season.

The pair of sophomore Hallsey Leighton and sophomore Remy Raevsky edged their Violet opponents 9-8 at No. 2 doubles, and seniors Amanda Slack and Melissa Slack teamed up for a 9-7 win at No. 3.

Junior Casey Kennedy led William Smith with a 6-3, 6-3 win at No. 2 singles. Sophomore Kiara Ocasio followed with a close 6-3, 2-6, 6-3 victory at No. 3. At No. 4, junior Joanie Hilton triumphed 6-3, 6-4. Amanda Slack and Leighton cruised to defeat their NYU opponents 6-3, 6-0 at No. 5 and 6, respectively.

The Herons will be back on the courts on March 30, when they travel to play Rochester at 4 p.m.
