GENEVA, N.Y.—The William Smith tennis team cruised to a 9-0 sweep of RIT in a match played today in Bristol Field House. The Herons improve to 8-3 this season.

William Smith started off the afternoon earning all the doubles points. Junior Joanie Hilton and sophomore Kiara Ocasio led William Smith edging their Tigers opponents at the top doubles spot, 9-8. At No. 2, sophomores Hallsey Leighton and Remy Raevsky teamed up to defeat Sara Bjork and Jillian Bertuzzi, 8-5, and first-year Ellie deMuth and junior Katie Serock swept their competition 8-0 at No. 3.

Senior Amanda Slack led the Herons in singles play, posting a victory at No. 1 (7-5, 3-2, retired). Junior Casey Kennedy registered a 6-2, 6-3 win at No 2. William Smith swept the Tigers to wrap up singles play. Hilton, senior Melissa Slack, Raevsky and Leighton secured 6-0, 6-0 wins at Nos.3-6 respectively.

The Herons will be back in action on April 7, when they host Nazareth at 4 p.m.
