The Hobart second varsity eight was named the Liberty League Men's Rowing Boat of the Week by the conference office today. The Statesmen won a gold medal at the Knecht Cup over the weekend.
Competing in the Division II/III men's varsity eight event against the first varsity eights from Philadelphia and Carnegie Mellon, as well as the second varsity eight from Grand Valley State, Hobart glided across the finish line more than four seconds ahead of the field. Senior coxswain

Michael Copacino posted a winning time of 6:32.48 on Sunday.
Grossman, Hess, Johnson, and Nachbar also won a silver medal in the Division II/III men's varsity four event at the Knecht Cup.
This is the sixth time this season that a Hobart crew has been named Liberty League Boat of the Week. The varsity eight (4) and novice eight (1) accounted for the previous five.
The Statesmen will be back on the water on April 16, when they take on Colgate in Hamilton, N.Y., in the annual Seneca Cup competition.
