RESULTS

WORCESTER, Mass.—
The Hobart rowing team capped its regular season racing schedule in the ECAC National Invitational Collegiate Championships on Lake Quinsigamond today. The Statesmen varsity eight narrowly missed a spot on the podium, finishing fourth in the grand final.

Reynaldo Kelly, Max Swagler, Gerry Samson, Jack Trimble, Andrew Cobb, Harald Zurakowski, David Roberts, Peter Nettl, and Coty Burgess advanced to the grand final with a second place effort in the morning heats. They covered the 2,000-meter course in 5:53.370, trailing only Trinity (Conn.).

Hobart exacted a measure of revenge by besting the Bantams in the final by more than a second. The Statesmen crossed the line in 6:04.415. Michigan captured the gold medal in 5:57.430 with Williams taking home silver. Bucknell outdueled Hobart for the bronze with a time of 6:01.479.

The Statesmen second varsity eight of Sarah Tanzer, David Grossman, Reid Johnson, Dillon Nachbar, Evan White, Michael Hess, Nathaniel Shils, Michael Cichelli, and Michael Copacino was fourth in its morning heat in 6:06.974 to progress to the petite final. In the afternoon, Hobart recorded a time of 6:29.297, coming in third behind Bucknell and Marist.

In the novice eight event, the Statesmen were fourth in a four-boat heat in 6:22.142. The crew of Jessica Dinan, Chris Depaola, Kevin Benz, Edward Amorello, Conor Eagan, Alex Kent, Edward Witcher, Robert Costello, and Stephen Gemmiti rebounded with a time of 6:16.997 in the petite final to place third.

Hobart will now await an invitation to the IRA Championships, June 2-4. The Statesmen hope to take the varsity eight or possibly a varsity four to the highly selective regatta in Cherry Hill, N.J.
