Statesmen compete in IRA finale

RESULTS

CHERRY HILL, N.J.—
The Hobart rowing team wrapped up its Intercollegiate Rowing Association National Championship experience this morning. The varsity four finished fifth out of seven crews in the third level final.

Unlike Thursday's heats and repechages, oarsmen were greeted by calm water and very light wind on the Cooper River. The Statesmen rowed a solid race and found themselves in the pack through the first two thirds of the race, but couldn't keep up as the pace increased down the stretch.

Senior coxswain Reynaldo Kelly, senior stoke Max Swagler, senior Andrew Cobb, senior Jack Trimble, and sophomore Coty Burgess covered the 2,000-meter course in 6:46.627, less than half a second behind fourth place Boston University.

Yale won the race in 6:38.633, two and a half seconds better than runner-up Harvard. Cal was third, just 0.299 seconds behind the Crimson. Penn finished sixth in 6:52.896, while Dartmouth rounded out the field.

Hobart will now turn its attention to England, where the Statesmen will race its varsity eight in the Reading Town and Henley Royal regattas later this month.
