Hobart squash splits two matches

AMHERST, Mass.—
The Hobart College squash team split two matches today on the second day of the Amherst/Mt. Holyoke/Smith Round Robin. The Statesmen fell 9-0 to Amherst this morning, and then swept Vassar 9-0 this afternoon.

Hobart is now 10-10 overall this season. Senior Corey Kabot led Hobart with a five game win at the top spot against the Brewers (11-13, 14-11, 11-5, 11-7, 11-8). The Statesmen secured 3-0 wins at Nos. 2-9.  Junior Daniel Pelaez topped Vassar's Jake Harris 11-3, 11-1, 11-6 at No. 2. At No. 3, first-year McGee O'Neil posted an 11-4, 11-4, 11-6 victory, and junior Edgardo Gonzalez logged an 11-3, 11-3, 11-3 win at No. 4.

Sophomore Will Boyle triumphed 11-1, 11-2, 11-2 at No. 5. At No. 6, senior Grant Bercari defeated Marshal Daly 11-2, 11-3, 11-6. Senior Willis Stephens cruised to an 11-2, 11-3, 11-1 victory at No. 7. Oliver Katz registered an 11-8, 11-2, 11-2 win at No. 8, and first-year Cesar Peralta recorded an 11-9, 11-1, 11-2 victory at No. 9 to round out the Statesmen lineup.

The Statesmen will be back in action tomorrow, Jan. 22, when they take on Tufts at 11 a.m. in the final day of the Amherst/Mt. Holyoke Smith Round Robin.
