Herons come up short in pursuit of Tigers

Meet Results

GENEVA, N.Y.
The William Smith swimming and diving team had a pair of double winners, but it wasn't enough to top RIT as the Tigers left Bristol Pool with a 130-109 victory tonight. RIT won eight of the meet's 13 events, but had only one double winner.

Sophomore Lia Duffy and first-year Christine Rhoads both picked up a pair of victories for the Herons. Duffy won the 200-yard individual medley in 2:17.63 and the 100 free in 55.3, touching in just 0.08 seconds ahead of the runner-up. Rhoads captured the 200 free in 2:04.91 and the 500 free in 5:35.4. William Smith's fifth victory came courtesy of junior Katie Stebbins' 1:14.36 in the 100 breaststroke.

First-year diver Sam Huselstein won on the 1-meter (182.05) and 3-meter (198.25) boards for the Tigers.

The Herons took second in the eight events they didn't win. Junior Casey Sherwin was the runner-up in the 50 free and 100 backstroke while senior Kaileigh Fowler finished second in both diving events.

William Smith will host its final home meet on Saturday, Jan. 28, when Cazenovia and Wells visit Bristol Pool. The tri-meet is scheduled to begin at 1 p.m.
