GENEVA, N.Y.—The William Smith tennis team cruised to an 8-1 victory over visiting Bard in a match played at the HWS Tennis Center today. The Herons picked up their fifth straight win to improve to 10-3 overall.
The Raptors are now 6-6 this season. The Herons, who are ranked No. 19 in the most recent Intercollegiate Tennis Association Northeast Region Rankings, swept doubles play. Senior
Joanie Hilton and junior Kiara Occasio earned an 8-2 win at the top spot. Seniors
Jess McCue and
Katie Serock blanked their Bard opponents, 8-0 at No. 2. At No. 3, juniors
Hallsey Leighton and
Remy Raevsky breezed to an 8-1 victory.

Casey Kennedy led William Smith in singles with a 6-0, 6-1 triumph at the top spot. Sophomore
Casey Nicoletti defeated Jean Wong at No. 2, 6-4, 6-1, and first-year
Haley Wolf notched a 6-3, 6-1 win at No. 3. Sophomore
Kate O'Connor downed her competition 6-2, 6-1 at No. 4, and first-year
Katie Drinkwater rounded out the Heron lineup edging Anna Gors 6-7, 6-1, 10-8 at No. 6.
William Smith will be back in action tomorrow, April 15 when they host Cortland at noon.
