GENESEO, N.Y.—The William Smith tennis team edged Geneseo 5-4 in a match played this afternoon. The Herons are ranked No. 19 in the most recent Intercollegiate Tennis Association Rankings, while the Blue Knights were No. 18.

With the win, William Smith improved to 12-3 overall. Geneseo is now 13-3 this year.

The Herons came out of doubles play with two points. Junior Kiara Ocasio and senior Joanie Hilton posted an 8-3 victory at the top spot. Seniors Jess McCue and Katie Serock cruised to an 8-2 win at No. 2.

Ocasio notched her second win of the day, topping Dexuan Yuan 6-4, 7-5 at No. 2 singles. She improved her season singles mark to 13-7. Junior Hallsey Leighton defeated Amanda Rosati 6-4, 6-4 at No. 4. Leighton is now 8-4 at the No. 4 singles spot this season. First-year Haley Wolf registered her 15th win of the season with a 7-6, 6-4 triumph at No. 6. Both Wolf and Ocasio stretched this win streaks to six matches. 

The Herons will be back in action on Saturday, April 21 when they travel to take on Rensselaer at noon.
