The Hobart College squash team split two matches today at the Hamilton Round Robin in Clinton, N.Y. The Statesmen cruised to an 8-1 win over Northeastern and then fell 9-0 to No. 7 Franklin & Marshall.

Hobart, who is ranked No. 29 in the most recent College Squash Association Rankings, is now 6-11 overall.

Against No. 44 Northeastern, the Statesmen posted 3-0 wins at Nos. 2-8 and won by default at the No. 9 spot. Sophomore McGee O'Neil led Hobart with an 11-5, 11-5, 11-4 victory at No. 2. Senior Edgardo Gonzalez logged an 11-9, 11-2, 11-6 victory at No. 3. At No. 4, senior Julian Snider cruised to an 11- 1, 11-9, 11-6 triumph, and at No. 5, first-year Danny Cabrera notched an 11-4, 11-3, 11-8 win. First-year Peter Sammis downed his opponent 11-3, 11-4, 11-4 at No. 6, and classmate Michael Woods earned an 11-2, 11-1, 11-3 victory at No. 7. Senior Eric DeRose topped his Northeastern opponent 11-0, 11-0, 11-6 at No. 8. Senior Charlie Merrill won by default at No. 9.

The Statesmen will be back in action on Feb. 5, when they travel to take on Cornell at 4:30 p.m.
