Box Score GENEVA, N.Y.—The No. 3 William Smith College soccer team scored four goals in the second half to defeat Cabrini College 5-0 in an NCAA Division III Women's Soccer Championship first round match played on Cozzens Field this morning. The Herons improve to 18-1-0 overall and advance to the NCAA second round.
William Smith will take on the winner of the Oneonta vs. Farmingdale State first round match being played on Cozzens Field this afternoon. It was the 18th straight victory for the Herons and their 11th shutout in a row.

Dineo Mmutla led William Smith with a goal and an assist. Senior goalie
Chelsea Dunay played 82:09 in goal and stopped the one shot she faced. Senior Lelia Barden came in to play the final 7:51.
Just 6:38 into the match, first-year
Kara Shue collected a long lead pass from junior
Madeline Buckley. Shue carried the ball into the box for a one-on-one with the Cavaliers' keeper first-year Marissa Jenkins. Shue sent a low rolling shot from right out in front into the back of the net to give the Herons a 1-0 advantage. It was Shue's sixth goal this year.
The Cavaliers best scoring chance came with 3:52 left in the first half. Meghan Martin put a low rolling shot on goal, but Dunay quickly made the save.
In the second half, William Smith out shot Cabrini 16-2 and ended up scoring four goals in a span of just over eight minutes to open up the match. In the 60th minute, the Herons were awarded a penalty kick after a foul in the box, but William Smith was unable to capitalize. The miss seemed to fuel the Heron offense.
In the 68th minute, Mmutla took a pass from junior
MaryClaire Pelletier and found herself alone with the keeper. She faked the goalie and scored her second goal of the year on an open net. In the 72nd minute, first-year
Shay Callahan also scored on a one-on-one with the keeper after a long vertical pass from Mmutla. It was Callahan's third goal this fall. Just 2:26 later, sophomore
Zoe Eth fired a shot into the back of the net after a corner kick taken by first-year
MacKenzie Smith. It was Eth's third goal of the year. In the 76th minute, senior
Kim Knefel drilled a shot on goal that was initially saved by Jenkins, but the ball bounced back out to Knefel who was able to bury the rebound for her second goal this year.
William Smith finished with a 24-6 advantage in shots and a 6-2 lead in corners. Jenkins played all 90 minutes in goal for Cabrini and made a season-high 12 saves. The Cavaliers finished the year with a 12-4-5 overall record.
