Hobart squash to compete in Liberty League Championship this weekend

The Hobart College squash team will be back in action this weekend, Nov. 23-24, at the 2013 Liberty League Men's Squash Championship hosted by St. Lawrence University in Canton, N.Y.

The Statesmen will begin the championship weekend taking on host No. 6 St. Lawrence on Saturday, Nov. 23 at 1 p.m. It will be the Saints' season opener. Hobart will play its second match of the day against No. 5 Rochester (2-0) at 4 p.m. On Sunday, Nov. 24, the Statesmen will face Bard (0-7) at noon and take on Vassar (0-2) at 2 p.m.

Hobart started its season last weekend at the Navy Veterans Weekend Round Robin in Annapolis, Md. The Statesmen went 1-3, earning their first victory of the year, an 8-1 win over Georgetown, on Sunday.

Senior William Boyle, and first-years Scott Marcus, Art Martella, Beau Orchard, and Krittapat Pranich each produced two wins over the weekend. Junior Billy Abrams played all four matches at the top spot for Hobart.

The Statesmen won the Liberty League Championship in the 2003 and 2004.

Following the Liberty League Championship, the Statesmen will be back on the courts on Dec. 6, when they travel to take on Hamilton at 6 p.m.
