Hobart squash posts 2-2 record at Liberty League Championship

The Hobart College squash team went 2-2 in the Liberty League Championship this weekend. The Statesmen fell 9-0 to No. 6 St. Lawrence and No. 5 Rochester on Saturday. Hobart earned 9-0 wins over Bard and Vassar today.

Against the Raptors, the Statesmen posted 3-0 wins at Nos. 1-7 and won by forfeit at Nos. 8 and 9. First-year Felipe Pantle led the Hobart effort with an 11-7, 11-8, 11-7 win at the top spot. Senior William Boyle picked up an 11-0, 11-4, 11-4 victory at No. 2. Junior McGee O'Neil won 11-4, 11-2, 11-2 at No. 3, and first-year Beau Orchard won 11-2, 11-1, 11-3 at No. 4. Sophomore Danny Cabrera earned an 11-6, 11-6, 11-7 victory at No. 5 and first-year Scott Marcus posted a 11-3, 11-4, 11-3 triumph at No. 6. First-year Art Martella downed his opponent 11-2, 11-0, 11-1 at No. 7.

In the win over the Brewers, the Statesmen posted 3-0 sweeps at Nos. 1-9. Pantle posted an 11-6, 11-9, 11-6 win at the top spot and Boyle produced an 11-3, 11-1, 11-4 triumph at No. 2. At No. 3, O'Neil logged an 11-2, 11-7, 11-2 victory and Orchard chipped in an 11-5, 11-1, 11-1 win at No. 4. Cabrera registered an 11-6, 11-4, 11-7 win at No. 5 and Marcus topped his opponent 11-3, 11-1, 11-3 at No. 6. Martella defeated his opposition 11-2, 11-5, 11-5 at No. 7 and first-year Krittapat Pranich won 11-4, 11-3, 11-2 at No. 8. First-year Ben Shapiro recorded an 11-3, 11-3, 11-3 victory at No. 9.

The Statesmen will be back in action on Dec. 6, when they travel to take on Hamilton at 6 p.m.
