The Alfred University swimming and diving team won 10 of 13 events on its way to a 138-98 victory over William Smith College in Bristol Pool this afternoon.

The Herons took second place in eight of the 10 events they didn't win, but couldn't overcome the scoring advantage of a first place finish. Points are awarded 9-4-3-2-1 in individual events and 11-4-2 in relay events.

"It was really encouraging," Heron Head Coach
Kelly Kisner said about her young team's performance. "There were lots of positive things to see. That's the key. We are improving and moving in the right direction."

Mimi Mahoney combined for a time of 1:56.58, 0.27 seconds ahead of the second place team from Alfred.

The Saxons took control of the meet by winning the next six events. Bohl broke the streak with a victory in the 100 freestyle. She made the turn at 50 yards in second place, but stormed to the front and stopped the clock at 57:19, 0.29 seconds ahead of the second place Saxon.

Alfred answered with three straight wins, before Conboy won the 100 breaststroke for the second straight meet. Her time of 1:10.6, was three one-hundredth of a second faster than her winning time against Ithaca Tuesday night.

William Smith will be back in action at 1 p.m. on Saturday, Nov. 16, when they compete against SUNY Cobleskill and Cedar Crest College at Cobleskill.
