The William Smith tennis team topped Grinnell College 6-3 in the first match of its spring break trip to Orlando, Fla., this afternoon. The Herons improved to 3-0 overall.

Sophomore Teru Greene and senior Kiara Ocasio edged their competition 9-7 at the top spot.  Juniors Casey Nicoletti and Kate O'Connor picked up an 8-4 win at No. 3.

The Herons secured the victory with wins at Nos. 3-6 in singles. Senior Hallsey Leighton rallied for a 3-6, 6-4, 10-3 win at No. 3. Sophomore Haley Wolf downed her opponent 6-0, 6-0 at No. 4, and first-year Sydney Arsenault logged a 6-2, 6-4 victory at No. 5. At No. 6, first-year Charlotte Federowicz also blanked her competition 6-0, 6-0.

William Smith will be back on the courts tomorrow, March 19, when they take on Hollins at 1:30 p.m.
