The William Smith College tennis team downed visiting Oneonta 9-0 in its first match of the spring portion of its schedule played today on the indoor courts in Bristol Field House. The Herons are now 2-0 overall.

Senior Kiara Ocasio and sophomore Teru Greene defeated their Red Dragon opponents at the top doubles spot 8-4. The pair improved to 11-2 overall this season. First-year Charlotte Federowicz and senior Hallsey Leighton picked up an 8-2 win at No. 2, and juniors Casey Nicoletti and Kate O'Connor cruised to an 8-0 win at No. 3.

Greene recorded a 6-4, 6-2 win at the top singles spot. She is now 5-0 overall in singles. Nicoletti stopped her first game 2-6, but rallied to down her competition 6-0, 10-1 at No. 2. She shares a team-high with seven singles wins so far this year. Leighton posted a 6-0, 6-1 victory at No. 3. Sophomore Haley Wolf breezed to a 6-0, 6-3 triumph at No. 4, and first-year Sydney Arsenault logged a 6-0, 6-1 win at No. 5. Federowicz secured the sweep with a 6-0, 6-0 win at No. 6. She is now 7-3 this season.

The Herons will be back in action on March 18, when they take on Grinnell in their first match of their spring break trip to Orlando, Fla.
