Heron tennis falls to St. Lawrence

Results

The William Smith College tennis team fell 6-3 to visiting St. Lawrence in a match played today on the indoor courts in Bristol Field House. The Herons, who are ranked No. 19 in the Northeast Region by the Intercollegiate Tennis Association, are now 8-4 overall. The No. 17 Saints improved to 6-5.

St. Lawrence picked up wins at Nos. 1 and 3 in doubles. The William Smith pair of junior Casey Nicoletti and senior Remy Raevsky recorded an 8-6 win at No. 2. The duo improved to 4-2 at the No. 2 spot this season.

The Saints logged wins at Nos. 1,2,4 and 5 singles to secure the overall victory. Senior Hallsey Leighton battled for a 5-7, 6-3, 10-3 victory at No. 3. It was her 10th singles win this year. First-year Charlotte Federowicz topped her competition 6-1, 6-2 at No. 6. She leads the Herons with 15-5 overall singles mark.

William Smith will be back on the courts on Wednesday, April 17, when it hosts Geneseo at 4 p.m.
