The William Smith College tennis team breezed to a 7-2 win over Ithaca College, which is ranked No. 16 in the Northeast Region by the Intercollegiate Tennis Association, in Ithaca, N.Y., this afternoon. The Herons, who are ranked No. 19 Northeast, improved to 10-5 overall this season. The Bombers are now 15-5.

William Smith came out of doubles play up 2-1. Senior Hallsey Leighton and junior Casey Nicoletti earned an 8-5 win at the No. 2 spot, and sophomores Katie Drinkwater and Kathleen Kennedy teamed up for an 8-5 win at No. 3.

The Herons secured the victory with wins at Nos. 2-6 singles. Leighton posted a 6-1, 6-2 win at No. 2.  At No. 3, Nicoletti topped her Ithaca competition 7-6 (7-3), 6-4, and junior Haley Wolf posted a 7-6 (7-1), 6-1 triumph at No. 4. First-year Sydney Arsenault cruised to a 6-2, 6-1 victory at No. 5, and classmate Charlotte Federowicz downed her opponent 6-0, 6-1 at No. 6.

William Smith will be back on the courts on Saturday, April 27, when they host Vassar at noon.
