Herons drop match to No. 25 Vassar

Results

The William Smith College tennis team fell 7-2 to No. 25 Vassar College in a match played today at the HWS Tennis Center. The Herons, who are ranked No. 19 in the Northeast Region by the Intercollegiate Tennis Association, are now 10-6 overall. The Brewers, who are ranked No. 10 in the region, improve to 11-3.

Vassar took a 3-0 lead after doubles play. Sophomore Teru Greene battled for a 6-3, 5-7, 10-8 victory at the top singles spot, defeating the No. 9 singles player in the Northeast, Ava Sadeghi. It was Greene's 10th singles win this season. Sophomore Haley Wolf also posted a win for William Smith at No. 4. She topped her competition 6-3, 6-4 to improve to 15-7 overall in singles this year. The Brewers secured the overall victory with wins at Nos. 2,3,5 and 6.

The Herons will be back on the courts on Tuesday, April 30, when they travel to take on RIT at 4 p.m. for their final regular season match.
