William Smith tennis edged 5-4 by TCNJ

Results

The William Smith College tennis team fell to TCNJ 5-4 in a match played today in Ewing, N.J. The Herons are now 6-2 overall.

The Lions are 12-0 and are ranked No. 12 in the Northeast Region by the Intercollegiate Tennis Association. William Smith came in at No. 18 in the region in the latest rankings.

TCNJ came out on top 3-0 after doubles play. Senior Hallsey Leighton cruised to a 6-3, 6-0 win at No. 3 singles, and sophomore Haley Wolf earned a 6-4, 6-1 triumph at No. 4. Leighton is now 8-5 in singles, and Wolf improved to 10-4. First-year Sydney Arsenault dropped her first set 2-6, but rallied to win the next two 6-3, 10-7. She is now 8-4 overall in singles. First-year Charlotte Federowicz downed her Lion opponent 6-2,6-0 at No. 6. She leads the team in singles victories with 11 this season.

The Herons will be back in action tomorrow, April 7, when they play at NYU at 10 a.m.
