The William Smith College tennis team dropped its match to NYU 6-3 this morning at the Violets' Stadium Tennis Center at Mill Pond. The Herons, who are ranked No. 18 by the Intercollegiate Tennis Association in the most recent Northeast Region rankings, are now 6-3 overall.

The Violets improved to 2-3 overall. NYU came out of doubles up 2-1. Sophomores Katie Drinkwater and Kathleen Kennedy posted an 8-6 win at No. 3. The pair is now 5-2 overall in doubles.

The Violets picked up wins at Nos. 1-4 to secure the victory. Heron first-year Sydney Arsenault topped her opponent 6-3, 6-4 at No. 5. She improves to 9-4 in singles. First-year Charlotte Federowicz logged a 6-4, 6-2 victory at No. 6. She is now 12-5 in singles action.

William Smith will be back on the courts when it hosts Nazareth on Thursday, April 11, at 4 p.m.
