MAISA Laser Qualifier Results
This weekend William Smith College seniors
Arielle deLisser and
Brooke Lyon earned spots in the ICSA Women's Singlehanded National Championship with their finishes at the Faye Bennet Trophy in Annapolis, Md. deLisser won the conference championship regatta and Lyon placed fourth.
In addition, HWS took first out of 18 teams at the North Fall No. 1, qualifying for a spot in the War Memorial Regatta which will be held in Norfolk, Va., on Nov. 2-3.
deLisser finished in the top two in each of her first five races. She went on to log five more top three finishes. deLisser posted two wins. Her conference championship victory is the 15th for the HWS sailing program. Lyon tallied six top three finishes in her 16 races, including three wins. Junior
Liana Folger also represented the Herons at the Faye Bennet and logged a 13th place finish. The ICSA Women's Singlehanded National Championship will be held in Providence, R.I., on Nov. 8-10.
At home on Seneca Lake, HWS took first of 18 teams in the North Fall No. 1. Seniors

Mike Deady captured first place in the A Division, finishing 14 points ahead of second place, the University of Buffalo. They placed in the top six in all 13 races, registering five victories. Sophomores

Allison Aughtry and junior
Alex Nugent earned a first place finish in the B Division, finishing 17 points ahead of second place Cornell. They finished in the top four in all 13 races, recording eight wins.
In Kings Point, N.Y., the Colleges also competed in the MAISA Laser Qualifier over the weekend. Sophomore
Chris Wilson placed 12th and first-year
Sean Burke finished 13th. Sophomore
Nick LaChance sailed to a 17th place finish.
HWS will be back on the water Oct. 5-6, when it competes in the Jesuit Open in New York City. HWS will also host the MAISA Women's Fall Dinghy Championships on Seneca Lake.
