Statesmen drop match to Navy

Results

The Hobart College squash team fell 8-1 to visiting Navy in a match this morning on the Smith Squash Courts. The Statesmen are now 5-11 overall.

Hobart, which is ranked No. 28 in the most recent College Squash Association Rankings, earned a victory by default at the No. 9 spot due to an injury a Navy player suffered in a match last night at Cornell. Navy, which is ranked No. 14, picked up wins at Nos. 1-8.

Today's match was the final home match for senior captain William Boyle and junior Billy Abrams. Boyle has played in 75 career matches and has earned 34 career wins in his four years on the squash team. Abrams, who transferred to Hobart last spring and is a senior academically, has posted a 6-7 overall record. He has logged a 4-6 mark at the No. 1 spot and gone 2-1 at No. 2 this season.

The Statesmen will play their final match of the regular season when they travel to play at Cornell at 8 p.m. at Feb. 7.
