Herons win 6th straight match, down RIT 7-2

Results

The William Smith College tennis team cruised to a 7-2 win over visiting RIT this morning in a match played on the indoor courts in Bristol Field House. With the Herons' sixth straight victory, they are now 7-1 overall, while the Tigers fall to 0-2.
 
William Smith swept doubles play to take an early 3-0 lead. First-years Hannah More and Ashley Lyon edged their opponents 9-7 at the top spot. Senior Casey Nicoletti and sophomore Sydney Arsenault posted an 8-3 win at No. 2 and sophomores Charlotte Federowicz and Kelley Hartmann blanked their Tiger competitors 8-0 at the No. 3 spot.
 
Junior Haley Wolf logged a 6-1, 6-0 victory at No. 4 singles and Nicoletti clinched the win for William Smith with a 6-1, 6-4 triumph at No. 5. Federowicz breezed to a 6-1, 6-0 win at No. 6, and Arsenault came out on top 6-3, 6-1 at No. 2.
 
The Herons will be back in action on Wednesday, April 2, when they host Hamilton at 4 p.m.
