ResultsPITTSFORD, N.Y.—The William Smith College tennis team reached the 10-win plateau for the seventh consecutive season following an 8-1 victory over Nazareth College at the Mendon Racquet Club this afternoon. The Herons posted their third consecutive win and ninth win in their past 10 matches, improving to 10-2 on the year.
William Smith came out of doubles play with a 3-0 lead in the match. The No. 1 tandem of
Sydney Arsenault and
Casey Nicoletti won 8-6 over Allison Tepas and Sara Kashtan. It was their fifth straight doubles win.
Charlotte Federowicz and
Kelley Hartmann earned an 8-4 victory at No. 2 and
Annie Venditti and
Haley Wolf prevailed at No. 3 by an 8-3 count.
In singles, Wolf was victorious in straight sets, 6-0, 6-0, at No. 2, extending her winning streak to a team best four straight. Nicoletti, Federowicz, and
Hannah Webster also won in straight sets at No. 3, No. 4, and No. 6, respectively. Hartmann secured the Herons' fifth singles point with a 10-5 super tiebreaker win after splitting the first two sets.
Tepas defeated Arsenault at first singles 6-3, 7-6 (7-5) to earn the Golden Flyers' (9-11) lone point.
William Smith will be back on the court on Saturday, April 12, when the Herons host Rensselaer. The match is scheduled to begin at 11:30 a.m. at the
HWS Tennis Center.
