Heron tennis falls in Liberty League tournament semifinals

The William Smith tennis team completed its season today, advancing to the Liberty League tournament semifinals. The Herons fell 5-0 to top-ranked and No. 14 in the nation, Skidmore in their match hosted by St. Lawrence in Canton, N.Y. William Smith, the No. 17 team in the Northeast Region, finished out the season with a 14-5 overall record.
 
The Thoroughbreds are now 16-3 this season and advance to the Liberty League tournament championship which will be played tomorrow. Skidmore swept doubles to take a 3-0 lead and then earned wins at Nos. 2 and 4 singles to earn a spot in the championship match.
 
It was the final match for William Smith senior Casey Nicoletti. She finished her Heron career with 47-22 singles record and a 33-17 mark in doubles. In her four years, William Smith posted a 57-20 overall record.
