Statesmen earn 5th straight victory, defeat Clarkson 2-0

The Hobart College soccer team picked up its fifth straight win this afternoon in Potsdam, N.Y., topping Clarkson 2-0 in a Liberty League match. The Statesmen are now 11-2-2 and 4-1-2 in the conference.

The Golden Knights fall to 4-9-2 overall and 1-5-1 in the Liberty League. The win was Hobart's ninth shutout of the season. Statesmen senior goalkeeper Tyler Serafine stopped the lone shot he faced to earn his eighth shutout of the year.

First-year Mouhamed Diouf broke through for Hobart in the 41st minute. His second goal of the season came when he chipped the ball over the on-rushing Golden Knights' keeper. In the 75th minute, sophomore Nick Dosky added an insurance goal off a rebound. It was also his second of the year.

The Statesmen finished with a 14-4 advantage in shots and a 12-2 lead in corners. Riley McDonald made three saves in all 90 minutes in goal for Clarkson.

Hobart will be back in action on Tuesday, Oct. 27, when it hosts Fredonia for a non-league game at 4 p.m.
