GENEVA, N.Y.—The top-seeded William Smith College soccer team scored three first half goals and added two more in the second to down Vassar 5-0 in a Liberty League tournament semifinal match played on Cozzens Field this afternoon. The Herons will host St. Lawrence for the championship match on Saturday, Nov. 7, at 1 p.m.

William Smith, who is ranked No. 3 in the nation, improves to 15-1-1 overall and extends its win streak to 14 matches, all by shutout. It was the Herons' 15th shutout of the season. Vassar wraps up its season with a 9-7-2 overall record.

Kara Shue led William Smith with a goal and two assists. Sophomore
Evie Manning chipped in a goal and an assist. First-year goalkeeper
Veronica Romines played all 90 minutes for the Herons. She finished with two saves to earn her first collegiate shutout. She's 3-1-0 in goal this year.

Just 5:13 into the first half, Longo notched her 10th goal of the season. She tapped in the goal from right in front after receiving a pass from Manning from the right side. Longo's goal tied for her 10th on the William Smith list with 33 career goals.

In the 18th minute, Shue logged her sixth of the season to make it 2-0. It came on a low shot from about 10 yards out. In the 33rd minute, junior
Brie Ruane gave William Smith a 3-0 advantage with her 10th goal of the year. Shue worked the ball in along the goal line on the left side and sent her cross to Ruane who capitalized from right out in front.

In the 60th minute, first-year
Megan Barwick registered her second goal of the year also off a feed from Shue. Shue's cross came from the left side and Barwick finished with a low shot from right in front of the goal. Manning added her third goal of the season for the final margin in the 65th minute. Sophomore
Lauren Kogelmann pushed a short lead pass to Manning, who drilled her shot just under the crossbar.

Vassar had some of its best scoring chances came later in the first half. After a Brewers' corner sent in by Amanda McFarland, there was a flurry of action in the box. Dahlia Chroscinski got a shot off that was blocked by a William Smith player and the ball was eventually cleared out by senior defender
Zoe Jackson Gibson. Vassar earned two corners in the final 1:38. The Brewers first attempt was punched away by Romines and the second ended in Lucy Brainerd blasting a shot high over the crossbar.

The Brewers' best chance in the second half came with 13:43 left in regulation. Kamaria Coley momentarily broke through the Heron back line. She edged her defender and fired a shot on goal that sailed just wide right of the far post.

William Smith finished with a 22-6 advantage in shots. The Brewers held a 4-3 lead in corners. Vassars' Emma Nichols finished with six saves.

The Herons will face No. 3 seed St. Lawrence (13-3-2) on Saturday at 1 p.m. with the Liberty League tournament title on the line. The Saints topped No. 2 seed RIT 3-1 this afternoon in Rochester, N.Y
