CLINTON, N.Y. – The Hobart College squash team split a pair of matches at Hamilton College this afternoon. The Statesmen defeated Hamilton 7-2, and dropped a 9-0 contest to Middlebury.
In the opening match of the day, Hobart (2-4) fell to the Panthers. At No. 1, first-year
Josh Oakley forced four games before losing 11-3, 10-12, 11-9, 11-4. Sophomore
Divine Wing's match at No. 6 also went four games. Middlebury's Henry Pearson won 11-8, 11-8, 7-11, 11-8. Sophomore
James Pierpont also extended his match to four games at No. 7.
The Statesmen rebounded with a 7-2 victory over the Continentals. Oakley posted a 3-0 win over Hamilton's Tucker Hamlin, 11-7, 11-0, 11-4, in the top spot. Junior

Danny Cabrera, and Pierpont won their matches 3-1. Orchard defeated Colin O'Dowd, 3-11, 13-11, 13-11, 11-4 at No. 2. Wing emerged victorious at No. 6, 14-12, 8-11, 11-6, 11-1, while Shannon won 12-10, 7-11, 12-10, 11-7 at No. 7. Cabrera defeated Sumair Khanna 11-6, 11-4, 7-11, 11-7, while Pierpont bested Addison Morse 11-6, 11-4, 7-11, 11-7. First-year
Ilyas Khan survived a five game match, topping Josh Wolpert, 11-3, 11-1, 5-11, 11-7, 11-5, in the No. 4 spot.
Hobart has finished the 2015 portion of its schedule. The Statesmen will return to the courts on Jan. 15-16 when they travel to Massachusetts for the Pioneer Valley Invitation. Hobart is scheduled to face Dickinson, Stanford, Haverford and Colby.
