Amherst bests Hobart in season finale

MIDDLETOWN, Conn. – The Hobart College squash team was edged 6-3 by Amherst College in its final match of the College Squash Association Team National Championships this morning.
 
Sophomore Terrance Rose collected the first win of the morning for Statesmen in the No. 2 spot. He defeated Scott Desantis 11-2, 11-6, 6-11, 11-8. First-year Jack Shannon swept Michael Groot, 11-8, 11-6, 11-1 at No.4. Fellow first-year Greg Dolente won in five games over Darian Ehsani at No. 5, 11-4, 11-13, 11-9, 5-11, 11-9. Dolente won the first and third games and then clinched the match with an 11-9 win in game five.
 
The Lord Jeffs jumped out to an early 3-0 lead winning 3-1 in the No. 3, 6, and 9 spots. Noah Browne clinched the match for Amherst winning 3-0 at No. 1.
 
The Statesmen finished their season with an 11-11 overall record.
