ORLANDO, FLA. – The William Smith College tennis team completed its spring break trip with a 9-0 sweep of Colby-Sawyer this morning. The Herons went 3-0 in Florida and improve to 3-1 on the season.

William Smith won all three doubles matches to take a 3-0 lead headed into singles play. Sophomore Hannah More and senior Haley Wolf faced tough competition from the Chargers at the top spot but emerged victorious, 9-7. First-year Michaelann Denton and sophomore Ashley Lyon didn't lose a game at No. 2 prevailing 8-0. At No. 3, junior Sydney Arsenault and sophomore Annie Venditti won 8-1.

In singles play, the Herons did not drop a single set. Wolf notched her second win of the day at No. 1, 6-2, 6-1. Denton collected her second win of the day with a 6-4, 6-2 victory at second singles. Arsenault and first-year Alex Cattie knocked off their Colby-Sawyer opponents by identical 6-2, 6-2 scores at Nos. 3 and 5 respectively. Venditti defeated her opponent 6-0, 6-1 at No. 4 while first-year Taylor Ferrari won 6-0, 6-2 at No. 6.

William Smith will be back on the courts on March 25, when it travels to Rochester for a 4 p.m. match.
