Herons tennis drops match to Hamilton

CLINTON, N.Y. – The William Smith College tennis team fell to Hamilton 7-2 this afternoon. The Herons wrap up their 2014-15 season with a 9-9 overall record, while the Continentals improve to 13-9.

Hamilton took control of the match, winning two of the three doubles matches. First-year Michaelann Denton and junior Sydney Arsenault emerged victorious 8-5 at No. 2 doubles, defeating the Continentals Bella Schoning and Weiling Tang.

Denton notched her second win and William Smith's second win of the afternoon at No. 3 singles. She bested Schoning, 6-4, 4-6, 10-1. With the win, Denton improves to 19-2 in singles play this season. She completed her rooki season on a 17-match win streak. During the streak, she collected four wins at No. 2, seven wins at No. 3 and six wins at No. 4.

It was the final match for William Smith senior Haley Wolf. She finished her career with a 55-20 singles record and a 19-13 record in doubles play. In Wolf's four years, the Herons posted a 50-25 overall record.
