The Hobart College squash team dropped a pair of matches to Wesleyan and Trinity today. The Statesmen fell 6-3 to the Cardinals and then were beat by the Bantams 8-1.
Hobart is now 5-8 on the season. In their first match of the day, the Statesmen collected wins at Nos. 5-7. Junior
Terrance Rose beat David Sneed, 11-6, 2-11, 11-7, 11-9 at No. 5.
Jack Shannon bested his opponent 11-4, 9-11, 11-2, 11-9 in the sixth spot. At No. 7, sophomore
Divine Wing won 3-1. Senior
Danny Cabrera sent his match at No. 8 to five games but fell 3-2 to Yahya Ladiwala.
This evening, Hobart traveled to Trinity where they squared off against the reigning national champion Bantams. Cabrera collected the Statesmen's lone win in a five-game thriller. He bested Hollis McLaughlin, 4-11, 11-7, 8-11, 11-1, 12-10.
Hobart will have a week off before traveling to Canton, N.Y., on Feb. 6-7 for the 2016 Liberty League Championship. The Statesmen will face Rochester and St. Lawrence on Feb. 6 and then take on Vassar and Bard on Feb. 7.
