Hobart College first-year
Cooper O'Connell scored his first collegiate goal 53 seconds into the second overtime period to secure a 1-0 win for the Statesmen soccer team over Bard in a Liberty League game played this afternoon on the Raptors' Ferrari Field.
With their third straight win, the Statesmen are now 6-4-3 overall and 3-1-1 in conference play. The Raptors fall to 5-5-3 overall and 0-4-0 in the Liberty League. It's Hobart's second straight overtime game and the sixth match this season that has gone into overtime. It's the Statesmen's fifth shutout this year.
O'Connell scored the game winner on a header into the top left corner of the goal in the 101st minute after a pass across the box by senior
Clint Dunn. O'Connell has four points this season. Dunn has notched three assists, all coming in the last two games.
Sophomore
Alec Kaminer stopped all three shots he faced in 100:53 to secure his third shutout this year. He's now 6-1-2 in goal this season. Taylor Bond made one save in goal for the Raptors.
Hobart finished with a 10-8 edge in shots and a 5-1 lead in corners.
The Statesmen are back in action tomorrow, Oct. 15, when they travel to take on Vassar in another Liberty League match at 2 p.m.
