Hobart drops game at Cortland

The No. 8 Cortland men's soccer team defeated Hobart College 5-0 in a non-league game played tonight in Cortland, N.Y. The Statesmen are now 7-5-3 overall.
 
The Red Dragons improve to 13-2-0 this year. Nick Tata scored two goals for Cortland.
 
Tata put the Red Dragons on the board 11:34 into the match. Miguel Tunas was credited with the assist. Tata's second goal of the game came in the 50th minute on a penalty kick.
 
In the 72nd minute, Chris Hettler scored on a free kick from 20 yards out to make it 3-0. Jack Sumski scored off an assist from Nevin Nambiar extended the Red Dragons lead in the 79th minute. Bronson Harris capped the scoring in the 89th minute. Peyton Lalone set up the play.
 
Cortland finished with a 16-3 advantage in shots and an 8-3 lead in corners. Connor Young played all 90 minutes in goal for the Red Dragons. Alec Kaminer played the opening 78:08 and made four saves. Josh Newman came in for the final 11:52.
 
The Statesmen are back in action on Saturday, Oct. 22, when they host Union for a Liberty League game at 3 p.m.
