GENEVA, N.Y. –The William Smith College tennis team closed out the fall portion of its schedule with a 7-2 win over Rochester Institute of Technology this afternoon. The match was the Liberty League opener for both teams.

Kate Foley quickly dispatched the Tigers' Diana Kulawiec and Jessica Coombs 8-1 at No. 3. The win improves Barclay and Foley to 2-2 on the season. At No. 2, senior

Michaelann Denton rallied to claim an 8-6 victory over Gianna Heaviland and Amelia Ying in the top spot. Heaviland and Ying led 6-2 before More and Denton rattled off six straight wins to take the match. More and Denton improve to 5-1 on the season.
The Herons claimed four singles victories to secure the match. Perron improved to a team-best 7-2 in singles play with a 6-0, 6-1 win over Heaviland at No. 3. Denton logged her second win of the day, besting Taylor Thum 6-1, 6-3 in the second spot. Foley stretched her win streak to four matches with a 6-0, 6-3 win over Dimisko. At No. 5, Barclay topped Kulawiec 6-3, 6-4 to improve to 2-2 on the season. The Tigers (4-2, 0-1) earned points with wins at No. 1 and No. 6. William Smith's fall season is now complete. The Herons are scheduled to begin their spring season Feb. 25 when they travel to Saratoga Springs, N.Y. to face Skidmore.
