PITTSFORD, N.Y.—St. John Fisher College scored the final four points of the game to defeat Hobart College 77-73 in non-conference basketball action this afternoon. The Cardinals improved to 2-0 while the Statesmen fell to 1-1.

Tucker Lescoe made a 3-pointer that tied the game at 73. St. John Fisher responded with a layup by Keegan Ryan for a 2-point lead. Lescoe tried to answer for the Statesmen, but Tyler English blocked the shot. English sealed the victory with a driving layup with 14 seconds remaining.
Lescoe led Hobart with 18 points on 5-of-9 shooting, 4-of-7 from 3-point range, and 4-for-4 at the free throw line. Sophomore guard
Jamal Lucas added 13 points, including a 7-for-7 effort at the line. First-year forward
Sam Allen chipped in 10 points.
Ryan was nearly perfect from the floor, making 11-of-12 shots and finishing with a game-high 28 points to go with six rebounds and three blocked shots. English had 15 points and Jake Haight netted 10.
The Cardinals shot 57 percent from the floor, but just 1-of-12 from behind the 3-point arc and 10-of-16 at the line. The Statesmen shot 43 percent for the game, 38 percent from deep and 75 percent at the line.
Hobart had the largest lead of the first half, a 5-point margin about five minute in, and enjoyed a 1-point edge at halftime, 36-35. Ryan led all scorers with 13 points while Lescoe paced the Statesmen with 8 points at the break.
An 8-2 run early in the second half gave Hobart the largest lead of the game for either side, 56-47, but St. John Fisher chipped away at the lead until drawing even at 62 with about five and a half minutes remaining. The Statesmen retook the lead on a traditional 3-point play by Lucas, but Ryan and English combined to score the game's next seven points and produced their team's final 11 points.
Hobart will play the third and final game of its season opening road trip on Tuesday, Nov. 22, when the Statesmen visit the University of Rochester. Tipoff at the Louis Alexander Palestra is at 7 p.m.
