Jamal Lucas scored a season-high 25 points but Hobart College suffered a second half slump in a 74-64 loss at Bard College this afternoon.
Â
Hobart started the game red hot, making four consecutive 3-pointers to start the game. It was 14-4 before three minutes had elapsed, and the lead got as big as 14 with about halfway through the session. The Statesmen shot 52 percent in the first half, including 7-of-12 from deep, and led 39-32 at halftime.
Â
First-year
Colin Dougherty scored 14 of his 15 points before the intermission and Lucas had 11 for Hobart. Harry Johnson led Bard with 11.
Â
Hobart started the second half in a rut making just 1-of-16 from the field. That left the door open for a Raptor rally. Bard used a 21-7 run to take a 53-46 lead it wouldn't relinquish. An 8-2 Statesmen run made it a 1-point game, but DeVahnte Mosley made a pair of free throws to start a 9-3 Bard surge.
Â
Mosley scored a game-high 26 points. Johnson finished with 14 points.
Â
Hobart trailed by at least 5 for the remainder of the contest.
Â
Lucas was 7-of-13 shooting with a pair of 3-pointers. Dougherty was 6-of-18 shooting with two triples. Sophomore
Luke Ruddy produced 10 points and a game-high seven rebounds.
Â
The Statesmen committed a season-low matching six turnovers, but they were outrebounded 37-30.
Â
Hobart will return to Bristol Gym for its next game, an 8 p.m. showdown with Clarkson on Friday, Feb. 12.
