CANTON, N.Y. - The Hobart College squash team posted a 2-2 overall record this weekend at the 2016 Liberty League Championships hosted by St. Lawrence University. The Statesmen posted identical 9-0 victories over Bard and Vassar on Sunday for their two weekend victories.

Hobart started the championships with a match against the host Saints. No. 6 nationally St. Lawrence, cruised to a 9-0 victory only losing three games. First-years
Josh Oakley and
Ilyas Khan, and sophomore
Divine Wing played strong at Nos. 1, 3, and 7 respectively. In their second match of the day, the Statesmen fell 9-0 to No. 3 Rochester.
In Sunday's first match, Hobart beat the Raptors behind 3-0 wins in all nine spots. Oakley improved to 9-6 on the year with an 11-7, 11-9, 11-8 win at No. 1 over Bard's Rhys Nordstrom. Junior
Beau Orchard notched an 11-4, 11-1, 11-4 win at No. 2. Khan was victorious at No. 3, while sophomore

Terrance Rose and Wing won at Nos. 4-7 respectively. Senior
Danny Cabrera beat Satwik Srikrishnan, 11-4, 11-3, 11-5 and first-year
Matthew Frantz won 11-4, 11-2, 11-2 at No. 9.

Against the Brewers, the Statesmen again posted nine 3-0 victories. Oakley's second win of the tournament came in the top spot. He defeated Vincent Mencottie 11-7, 11-8, 11-9. At No. 2 Orchard emerged victorious, 11-7, 11-5, 11-8. Khan cruised to a victory at No. 3, losing only four points. Â Pantle topped Ben Kurchin (14-12, 11-5, 11-3) at No. 4 while Shannon won, 11-4, 11-0, 11-1 at No. 5. Rose lost just three points to Sam Hammer in the No. 6 spot. Wing and Cabrera swept their opponents at Ns. 7 and 8 respectively. Frantz impressed at the No. 9 spot cruising to an 11-3, 11-3, 11-2 victory over Richard Bryenton.

Hobart will be back on the courts next Sunday, Feb. 14 when they host Bates at 10:30 a.m. The Statesmen will also travel to Ithaca, N.Y. for a 5 p.m. match against Cornell.Â
