The William Smith College tennis team will compete in the 2016 Liberty LeagueTennis Tournament this weekend, May 7-8, in Ithaca, N.Y. The matches will take place at the Reis Tennis Center at Cornell University.

The Herons finished the 2015-16 season with an 11-7 overall record and a 4-3 record in conference play. William Smith clinched the No. 4 seed in the conference tournament on the final day of the regular season with a 7-2 win over Union. The Herons will face No. 1 seed St. Lawrence (13-6, 6-1) on Saturday at 3 p.m. In the other semifinal, second seeded Vassar (13-7, 6-1) will face No. 3 seed Skidmore (9-8, 6-1). The winners will meet on Sunday at 2 p.m. for the conference championship.

Hannah More is a team-best 19-4 this season and has played all but one match at No. 1 for William Smith, posting a 15-2 record. More went a perfect 7-0 in the Liberty League play and defeated the Saints' Morgan McNeal 6-3, 6-3 when the two teams met in April. Sophomore

Alex Greenberg have 16 and 14 singles wins, respectively. In doubles play, More and Denton are a team-best 17-6 overall and went 12-4 in the No. 1 spot.

St. Lawrence enters the tournament as the No. 1 seed despite a three-way tie at the top of the league standings. The Saints had the best winning percentage against opponents with an end-of-season record of .500 or above and were awarded the top spot. Georgia Comber is a team-best 14-1 this season, playing in the middle of the lineup. In doubles play, Comber and Morgan McNeal are 10-5 on the season.
