Three Herons scored as the William Smith College soccer team topped the University of Rochester 3-1 in the Upstate Collegiate Cup hosted by Ithaca College this afternoon. The Herons improve to 6-0-0 this season.

William Smith advances to the Upstate Collegiate Cup championship match, where it will face Cortland in Cortland, N.Y., tomorrow, Sept. 18, at 2 p.m. The Red Dragons topped Ithaca 2-0 in the first match of this weekend's tournament.

Kara Shue kicked in a loose ball inside the box to make it 3-0.

In the 56th minute, Lee Stagg broke through for Rochester. Megan Runyan was credited with the assist for the Yellowjackets.

The Herons finished with a 20-5 advantage in shots and an 8-1 lead in corners. Sophomore
Veronica Romines played all 90 minute and made one saves for William Smith. Madilynee Lee started the game and made one save in 23:21. Gwen Haffenden played the final 66:39 and recorded two stops.
