The Hobart College soccer team dropped its season opener 3-0 at Elizabethtown tonight. The Blue Jays took a 1-0 lead midway through the first half and added two more goals in the second.

In the 26th minute, Mitchell Gochnauer put Elizabethtown on the scoreboard capitalizing on a corner kick. Aaron Rathsman earned the assist. Gilbert Waco extended the Blue Jays' lead to 2-0 in the 69th minute. He finished a rebound off a shot by Scott Hess. Duncan George capped Elizabethtown's scoring after a pass from Jeff Light with 3:28 remaining.

Ryan Sandell played all 90 minutes in goal for the Blue Jays and made three saves. Sophomore
Morgan Sawyer played the entire match in goal for the Statesmen and finished with five saves.

Elizabethtown held a slight 18-15 edge in shots. The Blue Jays also held the advantage in corners, 7-4.

Hobart will be back in action tomorrow, Sept. 3, when it faces No. 25 Dickinson at 6 p.m.
