GENEVA, N.Y.—Hobart sophomore
Jonas Toupal led the Statesmen hockey team to a 7-3 win over Lebanon Valley recording a hat trick in the ECAC West game played tonight in The Cooler. Toupal's three goals match the Hobart record for goals in a game.
The Statesmen improve to 13-2-3 overall and 5-2-0 in the ECAC West. Hobart extended its unbeaten streak to 10 games. The Dutchmen are now 3-14-2 this season and 0-8-1 in conference play.

Tim Sestak finished with 18 saves in goal for Hobart in his first collegiate action.
At 13:52 into the first, Toupal notched the first goal of the game. Sternbach carried the puck into Hobart's offensive zone and left it for Toupal skating in right behind him. Toupal's shot from the slot slid between the goaltender's legs. With just under a minute left in the first, senior
Mitch Beyer made it 2-0 with a power-play goal for Hobart. Senior
Bobby Sokol tipped the puck to Bingaman who found Beyer at the blue line. Beyer lifted his shot top shelf for his second goal this season.
Just 11 seconds into the second period, a high shot by one of the Dutchmen shattered a panel of glass causing the game to be delayed. At 10:59 in the second, Toupal struck again. This time MacDougall got the puck from senior
Michael Russon and skated in and around the back of the goal and dished to Toupal out in front who lifted his shot into the top right corner to make it 3-0.
With 3:42 left in the middle period, Cole Helper put Lebanon Valley on the board with a shorthanded tally. With 1:29 on the clock, Toupal capped his hat trick to make it 4-2 for Hobart. Greiner played the puck in, and the Dutchmen's goalie came out of the crease to play it, but couldn't hang on to it. Sophomore
Trevor Poirier pushed the puck at the goal, but it dribbled underneath the goalie's pads and came to a stop at the left post. Toupal was there to finish it off for his seventh goal this year. With 54 seconds remaining in the second, Brad Nolan slid a shot underneath the pads of Statesmen goaltender to get the Dutchmen within two. Hepler earned the assist.
The third period saw four more goals. Just 1:42 in, MacDougall registered his third goal of the year to make it 5-2. Simon blasted a shot from the blue line that was tipped in by MacDougall. Sternbach also earned an assist on the play. At the 11 minute mark, Bingaman capitalized on a Statesmen power-play after passes from junior
Tyler Wolf and Simon. Hepler scored again for Lebanon Valley with 1:45 to go. This time he notched a power-play goal off assists from Nolan and Jared Karas. Greiner closed out the scoring for Hobart with 43 seconds remaining. Sophomore
Jordan Haskell played the puck out of the defensive zone to Greiner who carried it all the way in and across the front of the crease, pushing his shot in at the right post while falling down. It was Greiner's fifth goal this year.
The Statesmen were 2-for-6 on the power play and the Dutchmen went 1-for-4. Hobart finished with a 50-21 advantage in shots. Joel Eisenhower made 43 saves in goal for Lebanon Valley.
The Statesmen will be back in action tomorrow, Jan. 28, when they host Stevenson for another ECAC West game at 7 p.m. in The Cooler.
