GENEVA, N.Y.-The Hobart College squash team defeated Hamilton 5-4 at the Smith Squash Center this afternoon. The win improves the Statesmen, who were ranked 23rd in the latest Dunlop Men's Colege Squash Rankings, to 5-10 on the season.
Hobart won four of its five matches 3-0. In the No. 2 spot, senior
Felipe Pantle defeated Callum Sondhi 11-9, 11-6, 11-9. The win was Pantle's second of the season. Junior
Terrance Rose collected his team-leading seventh win, topping Tucker Hamlin 8-11, 11-6, 11-4, 11-7. At No. 4,
Jack Shannon won 11-4, 11-9, 11-7. In the sixth spot, First-year
Graham Henderson notched his fifth win of the season, besting Mark Sperry 14-12, 11-4, 11-7. Junior
Divine Wing clinched the overall victory for the Statesmen, cruising to an 11-4, 11-8, 11-3 win over the Continentals' Sam Mattick.
Senior
Ben Shapiro dropped a tightly contested match to Jonathan Ruth at No. 9. Shapiro won the first two games, 6-11, 5-11, before Ruth took the final three games, 11-6, 11-9, 11-5.
The Statesmen will be back in action on Friday, Feb. 3 when they host Navy at 5 p.m. Hobart will then go to Rochester, N.Y. for the Liberty League Championship this weekend, Feb. 4-5.
