The No. 4 William Smith College soccer team earned a 1-0 non-conference win today at Farmingdale State. The Herons improve to 14-1-0 with their 11th straight victory and eighth straight shutout.

The Rams dropped to 10-6-2 overall. William Smith scored in the 23rd minute as juniors Sarah Olick-Sutphen and Megan Richard set up junior Megan Barwick in front for the tap-in. It was Barwick's sixth goal this year.

With 2:01 remaining in regulation, Farmingdale State's Brittney Starzee blasted a shot from the top of the box, stopped by a diving junior Veronica Romines to preserve the eventual 1-0 victory. It was Romines' seventh shutout this fall.

The game was a defensive battle with William Smith holding the advantage in shots, 6-3. Romines made two saves for the win, while Daniella Ford stopped four shots in defeat.
