Hobart, which is ranked 26th in the latest College Squash Association Team Rankings, opened the tournament on Saturday, Nov. 18 against No. 22 Massachusetts Institute of Technology. The Engineers defeated the Statesmen 7-2. Junior

Terrance Rose logged wins for the Statesmen. Oakley defeated MIT's Joe O'Connor, 11-7, 6-11, 11-5, 6-11, 11-9, at No. 1. After dropping the first game, Rose rallied to beat Paul Kukadia 8-11, 11-7, 11-4, 11-0. Senior
Jack Shannon forced five games in his match with Jeffrey Hu but was ultimately defeated in five games, 5-11, 11-6, 11-4, 10-12, 12-10. In the second match of the day, Hobart took on the host Midshipmen. Fourteenth-ranked Navy emerged victorious 9-0. The Midshipmen won seven of the nine matches 3-0. Oakley and Shannon were edged in five games. Oakley lost 11-6, 10-12, 11-4, 9-11, 11-2 at No. 1. Shannon won his first two games 11-7, 11-6 and had a match point in the third game but Sam McCartney won the point and the match 12-10, 11-8, 11-4.

Hobart picked up a pair of wins in today's matches. The Statesmen beat the Blue Jays 3-0 in six of the seven matches. First-year
Jeffrey Wan held on for an 11-3, 6-11, 11-8, 11-13, 13-11 win at No. 7. Rose won 11-6, 11-3, 11-6 at No. 1 while sophomore
Ilyas Khan knocked off his opponent 11-5, 11-3, 11-4 in the second spot. Seniors
Divine Wing and
Matthew Frantz cruised in their matches at No. 3 and No. 4, respectively. First-year
Parkman Levis notched an 11-5, 11-2, 11-6 win in the fifth spot. Hobart closed out the weekend with a 9-0 win over the Hoyas. The Statesmen won all nine matches by a score of 3-0.

Hobart will be back in action Dec. 2 when it heads to Clinton, N.Y. for a match against Bowdoin. The Statesmen will then take on Virginia on Dec. 3 in Ithaca, N.Y.
